Perhaps on an ultra-fine adjust for a specialized piece of lab equipment, but really there aren't many practical uses. Multiple gear reductions in chain are very common though. Your transmission is an example.

Oh we have the ‘Nordic walking’ elderly who tend to have matching Gaastra Jackets and also tend to have a boat which they refer to at any moment they can and mainly use it to dock at harbours just to be there and be able to tell people “they are there with their boat”. Also, matching male/female bicylces. If possible electricly assisted.
